Out Here and Beyond - Thomas Chapin remembered
Manchester, CT native Thomas Chapin is remembered as one of the most innovative jazz artists of his generation. Now, nearly 15 years after his death, a film documentary about his life is being produced, and a new set of live 1995 recordings will be issued on December 11.
Thomas's widow, Terri Castillo-Chapin, and her sister, Stephanie Castillo, director of "Night Bird Song: The Thomas Chapin Story" will be at WWUH on Tuesday, December 11 at 10 a.m. They'll discuss the recording, "Never Let Me Go," and the upcoming film with Chuck Obuchowski, host of Tuesday Morning Jazz, Out Here & Beyond.
There will be a free reception at Real Art Ways, 56 Arbor St., Hartford, on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 4-6 p.m., to celebrate the new release. Copies of the new recording will be available during the reception, and an extended trailer from the film will be screened as well. Former Thomas Chapin bandmates will be in attendance at Tuesday afternoon's event.
