Tuesday Classics - Liszt and Hiller--plus and a discussion with Prof. Ira Braus
Tune in on Tuesday, October 25, from 4-7 PM, as Tuesday Classics host David Schonfeld commemorates two great musicians born 200 years ago this week (October 1811): Franz Liszt and Ferdinand Hiller. Both lived long, eventful lives and were enormously important in their times (though they were not close personally, or in their views).
Then, during the 7-8 PM segment, David will converse with Hartt Professor Ira Braus about the latter's performance practice seminar at Hartt. Ira will explain how familiarity with the sounds and playing techniques of historic instruments gives contemporary performers insights into the interpretation of Classic and Romantic music.
