Out Here & Beyond - Phil Woods
Chuck Obuchowski will air an interview with legendary alto saxophonist Phil Woods this Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. during Out Here & Beyond.
Phil Woods, a Springfield, MA native, is still going strong at 81. In addition to working with many of the jazz greats over the past 60 years, he's contributed to pop hits by artists ranging from Billy Joel to Steely Dan. On Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m., he'll headline the Berkshire Gateway Jazz Weekend as special guest with the Greg Caputo Big Band at the First Congregational Church in Lee, MA.
The Jazz Weekend begins Thursday, July 25 at 6 p.m. with a free showing of a documentary about Woods, "Life in E Flat," at the Lee Public Library. For more details about all the weekend's activities, visit www.berkshiregatewayjazz.com, or phone 413-243-1033.
WWUH offers jazz programming Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - noon, and Tuesday - Friday from 9 p.m. - midnight.
