John Feierabend is Professor of Music Education in the Hartt School at the University of Hartford.
In this first segment, John talks about his research interests and teaching materials involving pre-school and elementary vocal music education based on folk sources; his goal of building community through folk music; his vocal Music Ed classes at Hartt and the textbooks he has developed based on them; Hartt's reputation for "research-based" music education; the superior preparation of Hartt graduates; job prospects for Music Ed grads; Orff and Kodaly methodologies contrasted; his own foundation in the Kodaly approach.
