New World Notes - Bruce Gagnon on Endless War & the Economy (Second of 2 Parts)
This week on New World Notes: radio program #327, June 10, 2014, from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. (and on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m.), host Kenneth Dowst presents the second part of a talk he recorded in West Hartford, Connecticut, on April 16, 2010.
Anti-war/anti-nuke activist Bruce Gagnon, Secretary/Coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space, shows how militarism is detroying the American economy and our lives.
This week, in Part 2, he discusses the bad effects of (a) NATO expansion & (b) our encircling Russia and China with "missile defense" installations.
He also explores universities' increasing dependence on Pentagon funding (for war research);... the allegiance of both parties to capitalism, oligarchy, & military empire;... and how spending on infrastructure creates many more jobs than "defense" spending.
This installment includes also a short section of Gagnon's Q&A and a topical song by David Rovics.
This installment was originally broadcast, as NWN #117, in May 2010.
New World Notes is produced under the auspices (Latin for "Freedom of Information Act") of WWUH-FM, a community service of the University of Hartford.
