Join Beyond the Classroom host, David Schonfeld, on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m (repeated at 7:30 p.m.).

In Program #38, David talks to Dr. Jacob Harney.

Jacob Harney is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Biology, at the University of Hartford.

In Program #37, Jacob talked about the importance of stem cells; cellular engineering as an alternative to embryonic stem-cell research; genetic engineering--is it feasible for humans?; his research interest in diabetes; the paradox of auto-immunity; changes in distribution of both Type-I and Type-II diabetes; antigens, antibodies, and evolution.

In this last of three segments, Jacob talks about steps we can take to improve our baseline health; taking better care of our bodies; mood and digestion; trusting hunger; fast food vs. slow food; research into caloric restriction and diet; the ketogenic diet; the place of fats in the diet; the place of alcohol in the diet.
