Tuesday Classics - Carmina Burana and Leonid Sigal
Join Tuesday Evening Classics host David Schonfeld on May 29, from 4 to 8 p.m., to hear a preview of the upcoming Hartford Symphony Orchestra concert weekend. The HSO will be playing Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 and Carl Orff's beloved oratorio, Carmina Burana.
David will play recordings of both works, along with other attractive music during the program.
At about 5 p.m., David will welcome to the studio Leonid Sigal, concertmaster of the HSO and soloist in the Shostakovich concerto. Mr. Sigal will talk to us about this work and his role and will also tell us about the orchestra's upcoming Talcott Mountain Summer Festival.
