A Musical Odyssey - Bandmaster P. S. Gilmore
Join Keith "Drake the Bandmaster" Barrett on Monday, August 15 for two special segments of A Musical Odyssey and Drake's Village Brass Band.
At 5:00 PM, listen to an interview with Rusty Hammer, author of P. S. Gilmore: The Authorized Biography of America's First Superstar. Keith and Rusty will discuss the bandmaster and composer of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" and organizer of the mammoth Peace Jubilees after the Civil War. They will also play musical examples.
Then from 6:30 PM till 8:00 the 23rd season of the Summertime Band Concerts will begin. This special program designed in the spirit of an outdoor band concert will feature Connecticut's Own, the United States Coast Guard Band.
