Tuesday Classics - Gian Carlo Menotti
On July 26 between 4 and 8 pm, Tuesday Classics host David Schonfeld will play music by Gian Carlo Menotti (1911-2007). Menotti, who was born 100 years ago this month in Italy, came to the U.S. to further his musical education and went on to become one of the most beloved of Twentieth Century composers. Menotti is celebrated chiefly for his two-dozen operas, for which he wrote the libretti as well as the music. He also founded the Spoleto Festival. On Tuesday you will have a chance to sample Menotti's works.
