Out Here & Beyond - Stephanie Castillo and Mario Pavone
Stephanie Castillo - director & producer of Night Bird Song, a forthcoming film about the life of jazz legend Thomas Chapin - speaks with Chuck Obuchowski during Out Here & Beyond on WWUH 91.3 FM: Tues, Aug 4 at 10:30 a.m. An hour-long excerpt of the film will be premiered Tuesday at 3 p.m. at The Canterbury School's Maguire Auditorium in New Milford CT, site of the Litchfield Jazz Camp. On Sat, Aug. 8th at 4:30 p.m., the film excerpt will be screened at the Litchfield Jazz Festival, Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen, CT.
Mario Pavone, longtime musical colleague of the Manchester, CT native, will join the conversation during Tues Morning Jazz, detailing a concert of Chapin's music that will be performed by the Litchfield Jazz Orchestra Friday, Aug. 7, 7:45 p.m. at this weekend's festival. Thomas Chapin, who took the jazz world by storm in the 1980s and 1990s, fell victim to leukemia in 1998 at the height of his career.
This interview, including several Chapin recordings, will stream live August 4th from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at www.wwuh.org. It will also be available on demand for two weeks; access the program archive via the WWUH home page.
