Out Here & Beyond - Billie Holiday centenary & Cyrill Aimee interview
French vocalist Cyrille Aimee speaks with Chuck Obuchowski on Tuesday, April 7 at 10 a.m. during Tuesday Morning Jazz: Out Here & Beyond. WWUH listeners will also be treated to songs from It's a Good Day, her most recent recording, along with a live track featuring onetime West Hartford resident Joel Frahm on tenor saxophone. Cyrille's music blends the exciting guitar-based swing pioneered by Django Reinhardt with a variety of jazz & pop styles, plus a touch of Chanson Française.
Cyrille Aimee and her quartet are headlining the 18th annual Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes benefit concert Saturday, April 11 at the West Hartford Town Hall, 50 South Main St., in West Hartford, CT. The event will include dinner, drinks & dessert. Call (860) 470-0020 for more details.
Tuesday, April 7th also marks the 100th birth anniversary of Billie Holiday, one of jazz music's most beloved singers. Chuck will pay tribute to Lady Day's music throughout his program, which airs from 9 a.m. - noon.
