The Hawks and WWUH Prove Championship
Pair
WWUH Presents the Eleventh Season of Women's
Basketball Last year was special in more ways than one for WWUH
and University of Hartford women's basketball. On Feb. 2, it was
designated WWUH night at Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion.
WWUH General Manager John Ramsey accepted a cake and applause
at center court in recognition of a 10-year association between
the station and the rapidly emerging Hawks' program.
On the court, coach Jen Rizzotti led
Hartford to its second America East championship in four years and
a trip to the NCAA Tournament. This year promises more excitement
as the Hawks return all but two players from last year's championship
season. Among them are America East All-Rookie Team member Danielle
Hood and all-conference honorees Erika Messam (second team) and
Ikea Witt (third team). The Hawks will play 26 regular season games
in 2005-06. Highlighting the schedule are matches with the University
of Connecticut, Miami, and Seton Hall.
Jon Easterbrook '87, '90, a member
of WWUH's public affairs department in the 1980s and director of
marketing services at the university, returns for his 11th year
as the voice of Hartford women's basketball. He will be joined by
a new color analyst in Jesse Ullmann, whose diverse and global
broadcasting experiences include covering the 2003 Australian Open
tennis tournament in Melbourne and serving as a news correspondent
for Radio Works New Zealand.
